It’s hard to believe  it’s that time again, but there  are less than 2 weeks until Medford Lakes Canoe Carnival!    This spectacular event is held annually on the first Saturday in August and is scheduled for Saturday, August 7th. If you’ve never seen a Canoe Carnival, it’s a sight to behold.   Imagine  the floats in the  Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade…on water!   Float groups take one or two canoes, cover them in plastic so they act as pontoons, then  attach a platform upon which they build a float.   This is just another unique event that makes Medford Lakes a great place to live!

Here are a few photos from past  Canoe Carnivals, all created by A Group Named Sioux….

We recently listed this  unique 5 bedroom, 2.5 bath home in Medford Lakes.   Come along as we take a tour of this spacious, beautiful home!   We’ll start  at the professionally landscaped entrance. Follow the flagstone walkway past the bed of lavender to the front porch.   Imagine  relaxing here in the summer with a cold drink, watching your children play in the large front yard, and waving hello to your neighbors as they walk down the street.

As you enter through the front door of this center hall colonial, you are greeted with warm colors and a welcoming foyer, which leads to the kitchen.

The kitchen is a delightful space.   It boasts maple cabinetry, granite countertops  and has an easy flow  to the workspace.   Alongside the Maytag refrigerator is a floor to ceiling pantry cabinet with roll out shelving in the lower half.   Another feature is the narrow spice cabinet next to the sink…very convenient when cooking or baking!

A granite breakfast bar separates the kitchen from the large family room and is  the perfect place for the  children to do their homework while  dinner is cooking.   It also doubles as a serving bar for entertaining!

The large family room is  a great  gathering spot to watch television or play games as a family.   The  gas fireplace is easily turned on and off, which makes having a fire so  inviting…at any time of the year!

The dining room is just off the kitchen and has a beautiful view of the  backyard patio. It’s a fabulous place to have holiday dinners.   The homeowners are currently using this space as a computer room, which shows how versatile this home can be!

Another room which the homeowners have repurposed is the spacious living room.   It currently houses a quilting studio!   Hardwood floors and neutral walls make this a very comfortable space whether you use it as a living room, an entertaining area or for your hobby.

Also on the first floor is a cosy office with wood floors and beautiful, built in, floor to ceiling bookshelves.   A perfect place to display your collections!

Finally finishing our tour of the downstairs, you’ll find the laundry room with lots of cabinets for storage,

and the adjoining powder room.

As we head upstairs we find 5 large bedrooms.   All of the bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans and overhead lighting. The first is freshly painted and has built in shelving in the closet, as well as built in bookshelves in a nook that is ideal for a desk.

Down the carpeted hallway,  a second  bedroom features neutral walls, a large closet with organizer, and hardwood floors.

The third bedroom  is bright and cheery with two large windows, hardwood floors  and a huge closet with an organizer built in.

The fourth bedroom is a serene place for relaxation. It has a double closet with built in shelving.   It’s currently being used as a sewing room/office.   Through the closet is a unique “short door” that leads to a large attic storage space.   You will have no storage problems in this home!

The master bedroom also features hard wood floors and has two closets with organizers.

The master bathroom has brand new shower doors, tile flooring  and upgraded fixtures.

The hall bathroom has a tile floor, tile shower walls and a double sink with a maple vanity.

Now that our tour of inside is over, let’s step out back!   The large, covered porch is perfect for outdoor dining and entertaining.   Imagine your friends and family, sharing memorable moments as you eat, drink and relax together on your porch!

Finally, your outdoor entertaining space is extended by the  professionally landscaped flagstone patio.   Surrounded by astilbes, Leyland Cypress, salvia, Japanese Maple and so much more, it’s a magical place to sit in the evening, watching the fire, enjoying your family and friends.   It’s also a delightful place to sit with your morning coffee or afternoon tea!
